The cartoon was a narration by an alien of earth culture. In the narration the alien mistakenly thought that the cars were the sentient beings - with the alien viewing them go into garages and to work and to feed at gas stations. In the end the humans were seen as parasites... I saw it in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Anyone know what I saw. I would like to use it in a organizational behaviour class.

I remember this cartoon too! Your description is perfect - I just started looking for it on the web and my first search was for 'cartoon 1980's aliens see humans as parasites' and your post came right up.

They showed it to us in school, and I actually think of it fairly often when environmental issues or human-induced climate change are on my mind. the things we humans, like parasites, have done to the earth.

If anyone knows what this cartoon was, I'd love to know!
